ROBERT MOORE RECEIVES FBI DIRECTOR'S COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP AWARD Robert Moore, President
of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE),
Land of Lincoln Chapter, was presented today with the FBI Director's 2007
Community Leadership Award. Moore, a former Illinois State Police Officer, United States Marshal, and Jackson, Mississippi Chief of Police has been the NOBLE President for two years, working to facilitate opportunities for minority police officers and to develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and information among minority law enforcement executives. Moore is active in community outreach and awareness initiatives, holding anti-crime workshops with various community organizations throughout the State. Moore has made a concerted effort to reach out to community youth. He has conducted The Law and You training seminars, educating young people on how to interact with law enforcement officials. Moore is also working in conjunction with the Sangamon County Sheriff's Department and the Boys and Girls Club to present a Safe Youth Program, designed to introduce children to conflict management, as well as promote an anti-drug and anti-gang message. The Springfield FBI management staff has personally worked with Mr. Moore in our recruiting efforts. In the spring of 2007, the FBI jointly sponsored a minority law enforcement career fair with the University of Illinois at Springfield. In addition, the FBI has worked with Mr. Moore in his capacity as NOBLE Lincoln-Land President in hosting tours for the Boys and Girls Club and in providing information to youth on the negative effects of gangs. Robert Moore exemplifies
a strong commitment to civic service, and in particular, outreach to community
youth, encouraging kids to aim high and make a difference. Moore's efforts
deserve recognition. Therefore, he was presented with the FBI Director's
2007 Community Leadership Award today by FBI Special Agent in Charge,
Karen E. Spangenberg, Springfield Division. |
