FBI Special Agent in Charge, Weysan Dun, Springfield Division, announced the arrests of Christopher R. Henkel and Lee N. Shobe. A criminal complaint was filed on 01/10/2007, in the United States District Court, Urbana, Illinois, charging both men with Theft of Government Property. Henkel, age 36, from Decatur, Illinois, was arrested without incident at approximately 9:00 a.m. Friday, 01/12/2007, in Decatur. The criminal complaint alleges that, in October, 2006, Henkel converted United States Government property, in violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 641. Shobe, age 28, from Toledo, Illinois, was arrested without incident at approximately 9:00 a.m. Friday, 01/12/2007, in Sullivan, Illinois. The criminal complaint alleges that, between October and December, 2006, Shobe converted United States Government property, in violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 641. The Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) provided indispensable assistance during the investigation and arrests. Theft of Government Property carries a maximum penalty of ten years incarceration. Members of the public are reminded that a criminal complaint is only an accusation, and that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. |
