Two arrested for Rantoul Bank Robbery
Two subjects were arrested at approximately 9:00 p.m. Friday night, 09/28/2007, for robbing the Busey Bank in Rantoul. At approximately 11:04 a.m. on Friday, 09/28/2007, Busey Bank at 200 East Sangamon, Rantoul, Illinois, was robbed by a man wearing a ski mask. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money from the bank, the subject fled the bank in a Chevy Impala. A swift response by the Rantoul Police Department led to the apprehension of Ahkeem Thomas and Krystal Brown. Thomas, age 19, from Harvey, Illinois, and Krystal Brown, age 18, from Rantoul, were arrested at 406 Marco Drive in Rantoul around 9:00 p.m. Friday night. Both are expected to appear in the federal District Court in Urbana on Monday. The Rantoul Police Department, Champaign County Sheriff's Department, and the FBI responded to assist with the investigation. Members of the public are reminded that all subjects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt .
