ROBINSON MAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSE

Randy G. Massey, Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that on April 6, 2006, KEVIN N. PHILLIPPE, age 23 of Robinson, Illinois, was sentenced in the United States District Court in Benton, Illinois. ROBINSON was sentenced to 210 months imprisonment, was fined $500, and was placed on 3 years supervised release.

PHILLIPPE had previously pleaded guilty to one count in a federal indictment which charged him with knowingly distributing child pornography by use of computer images.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Robinson Police Department, the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, the Carbondale Police Department, and the Marion Police Department.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney George A. Norwood.

The United States Attorney's Office, in conjunction with federal and state law enforcement authorities, is actively investigating and prosecuting individuals who produce, distribute, or possess child pornography. Anyone with information concerning the use of the Internet for the purposes of possessing, producing, or trafficking in child pornography is encouraged to contact their local police department or the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
