On Monday, 04/24/2006, at approximately 4:00 p.m., several men, armed with handguns, entered the Community Plus Federal Credit Union, 526 East Champaign Avenue, Rantoul, Illinois, and demanded money.

A passing motorist flagged down a Rantoul police officer who quickly summoned additional officers to the bank. As the masked men exited the bank, they were confronted by the Rantoul police department. The robbers scattered and a foot chase ensued. Within a short period of time, Rantoul PD had five suspects in custody, including:

Ahshun T. Collins, age 26, Kankakee, Illinois;
Clinton Williams, age 33, Kankakee, Illinois
Rory Tucker, age 20, Kankakee, Illinois
Brad Oneil Williams, age 27, Kankakee, Illinois
Bobby Leandre Riley, age 19, Kankakee, Illinois

Federal bank robbery charges are anticipated today in the United States District Court, Central District of Illinois.

The success of this operation is attributed to the quick response by the Rantoul Police Department, assistance from the Champaign County Sheriff’s Department, as well as information from community members.

Members of the public are reminded that all individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
