St. Louis Man Sentenced for Role in Drug Conspiracy
A. Courtney Cox, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today
that on October 26, 2009, HERMAN MOORE, age 54, of St. Louis, Missouri, was sentenced to 360
months’ imprisonment, 10 years supervised release, a fine of $500 and a special assessment of $100.
MOORE was convicted on April 30, 2009, following a jury trial in United States District Court
in East St. Louis, of one count of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute cocaine
and “crack cocaine.” The conviction arose from an investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement
Administration into the drug related activities of MOORE and others. Fourteen of MOORE’s codefendants
previously pled guilty and have been sentenced.
Evidence supporting this prosecution was obtained in an investigation by the Drug Enforcement
Administration and the Federal Bureau of Investigation as part of their participation in the Organized
Crime Drug Enforcement Administration (OCDETF), an initiative designed to identify, dismantle, and
prosecute national and international drug trafficking organizations. The case was prosecuted by Assistant
United States Attorney Daniel T. Kapsak.
