Woman Who Sought to Have Sex with Child Sentenced to 10 Years' Imprisonment and Lifetime Supervised Release
A. Courtney Cox, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced
today that on July 13, 2009, CATHARINE L. MILLER, age 33, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, was
sentenced in the United States District Court in East St. Louis, Illinois. MILLER was sentenced to 120
months’ (10 years') imprisonment, fined $625, and placed on lifetime supervised release.
MILLER had previously pled guilty to a one count federal indictment charging her with
Traveling in Interstate Commerce for Purpose of Engaging in Illicit Sexual Conduct with a Minor. The
evidence established that MILLER traveled from Ohio to Wayne County, Illinois, on November 14,
2008, to meet a 14-year-old female child with the intent to engage in sex acts with the child.
The investigation in this case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Southern
Illinois Cyber Crimes Task Force, and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney George Norwood.
