ALTON DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO OVER TWENTY YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON

A. Courtney Cox, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that on April 3, 2009, PATRICK D. THOMAS, age 38, of Alton, Illinois, was sentenced in United States District Court in East St. Louis, Illinois. THOMAS was sentenced to a term of 262 months in prison with credit for 16 months already served, ordered to pay a $900 fine, and placed on supervised release for a period of 8 years after his release from prison.

THOMAS had pled guilty on December 31, 2008, to one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute over Five Grams of Crack Cocaine. The offense occurred on November 24, 2007, in Alton, Illinois.

The investigation was conducted by the Alton, Illinois Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Task Force, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Donald S. Boyce.
