Randy G. Massey, Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that on November 19, 2007, GARY E. PEEL, age 63, of Glen Carbon, was sentenced in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, Fairview Heights. PEEL was sentenced to 144 months, fined $1,000.00, and was place on three years supervised release.

PEEL was previously found guilty of all 4 counts (Bankruptcy Fraud, Obstruction of Justice, and two counts of Possession of Child Pornography) of an Indictment following an eight-day jury trial in the United States District Court in March, 2007. PEEL has been in custody on this matter since April.

The Investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Jennifer Hudson and Kevin Burke.
